Emergency Housing Monte Cecilia Trust

This high-profile emergency housing development was a major project for Auckland-based Monte Cecilia Trust, which provides support to families who are homeless or have other serious housing needs. The development was opened by the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, in October 2019.

The scale of the build and social value of the project made it a career highlight for many in our 25-strong project team, which included diverse subcontractors. As well as the stakes held by clients Monte Cecilia Trust in the project, there was high interest shown by local residents, the local church, and the wider Auckland public.

We constructed a new administration building and 31 two-bedroom units in four two-storey brick-and-timber buildings covering 5000sqm in a suburban Mangere cul-de-sac. This was our first major commercial project in Auckland, and we rapidly developed positive relationships with local subcontractors.
