Ara Reti and Ara Kataraina off Cessna Place, Māngere

We went to a blessing yesterday morning where the Mike Greer Group all attended with Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities and the iwi Te Aakitai Waiohua to bless the two new laneways, Ara Reti and Ara Kataraina off Cessna Place, Māngere.

Kāinga Ora were gifted the names Ara Reti and Ara Kataraina from Te Aakitai o Waiohua (mana whenua of the area) which means sisters and loved Kuia of the Wilson Takaanini whanau / Te Aakitai Waiohua.

We have completed 46 homes around the periphery of Cessna Place and we are currently in construction on another 59 homes in the centre of Cessna Place which includes two additional apartment buildings, 29 terraced homes, and standalones.

The new accessways were blessed by Mātua David Wilson, Whaea Dolly Paul and Whaea Kathleen Wilson and we felt so honoured to attend the event. Whaea Dolly mentioned this quote from Te Puea Herangi “Mahi te mahi mo te painga o te Iwi" (Do the work for the good of the people).
